Last Updated: August 21, 2026
Welcome to UniBook Editions. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms", "Terms and Conditions") govern your access to and use of the UniBook Editions website and your purchase or use of our translation, adaptation, editing, and related services.
By accessing our website, contacting us for services, submitting content, requesting a quotation, or purchasing any service from UniBook Editions, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our website or services.
1. About UniBook Editions
UniBook Editions is a translation and content service business that focuses on making books and other content accessible to Indian audiences, including through Hinglish translation and adaptation.
For the purposes of these Terms:
- "UniBook Editions", "we", "us", or "our" refers to UniBook Editions.
- "Client", "you", or "your" refers to any individual, author, publisher, company, organisation, or other person purchasing or requesting our services.
- "Content" means any text, manuscript, book, script, audio, video, document, image, reference material, or other material provided by you.
- "Services" means the translation, adaptation, editing, proofreading, writing, formatting, or other services agreed between you and UniBook Editions.
2. Eligibility
By using our services, you confirm that:
- You are legally capable of entering into a binding agreement under applicable law.
- The information you provide to us is accurate and complete.
- You have the necessary rights, permissions, licences, or authority to provide any content submitted to us.
- Your use of our services does not violate any applicable law or the rights of another person.
If you are acting on behalf of a company, publisher, organisation, or another person, you confirm that you have the authority to do so.
3. Our Services
Our services may include, depending on the specific project:
- English-to-Hinglish translation
- Hinglish adaptation
- Book translation
- Story adaptation
- Script translation
- Editing
- Proofreading
- Content localisation
- Formatting
- Other related content services
The exact scope of a project will depend on the quotation, proposal, written communication, or service agreement provided to the client. Not every service is available for every type of content or project.
4. Service Quotations
Before beginning a project, UniBook Editions may provide a quotation based on factors such as:
- Word count
- Number of pages or episodes
- Type of content
- Language pair
- Complexity of the content
- Required level of adaptation
- Delivery deadline
- Formatting requirements
- Revision requirements
- Additional services requested by the client
A quotation is generally valid only for the period stated in the quotation. If no validity period is specified, UniBook Editions may modify the quotation before the client confirms the project.
Additional work requested after approval of the original scope may result in additional charges.
5. Project Confirmation
A project may be considered confirmed when the client:
- Accepts the quotation or proposal;
- Makes the required advance or full payment;
- Provides written confirmation through an agreed communication channel; or
- Otherwise confirms the project according to the agreed terms.
UniBook Editions may decline or cancel a project before work begins where necessary or appropriate.
6. Client Responsibilities
The client is responsible for providing:
- Accurate project information
- Complete source material
- Clear instructions
- Relevant reference materials
- Required files in usable formats
- Necessary permissions and rights
- Timely feedback and approvals
If the client provides incomplete, inaccurate, corrupted, or unclear materials, the project may be delayed and additional charges may apply where additional work is required.
The client is also responsible for reviewing the final work before publishing, distributing, or commercially using it.
7. Intellectual Property Rights in Client Content
You retain ownership of the original content and intellectual property rights that you already own in the materials you provide to UniBook Editions.
By submitting content to us, you grant UniBook Editions the limited permission necessary to access, process, translate, adapt, edit, review, and deliver the requested service.
You represent and warrant that you have the necessary rights or permissions to provide the content to us. You must not submit material that you do not have the legal right to reproduce, process, translate, adapt, or otherwise provide to us.
8. Ownership of Completed Work
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, ownership and permitted use of the completed work will be governed by the specific quotation, service agreement, or other written agreement applicable to the project.
Where full payment is required for transfer of agreed rights, any such transfer will take effect only after the required payment has been received.
UniBook Editions may retain limited copies of completed work where reasonably necessary for business records, customer support, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or other legitimate purposes, subject to our Privacy Policy and any confidentiality obligations.
9. Copyright and Third-Party Rights
UniBook Editions does not claim ownership over copyrighted material belonging to the client or third parties merely because such material is submitted to us for translation or adaptation.
The client is solely responsible for ensuring that the source material may legally be translated, adapted, edited, reproduced, or otherwise processed.
UniBook Editions is not responsible for copyright infringement or other intellectual-property violations arising from content supplied by the client.
If we receive a legitimate complaint or notice concerning content submitted by a client, we may suspend or stop the relevant work while the matter is reviewed.
10. Translation and Adaptation Standards
We aim to provide accurate, natural, readable, and context-appropriate translations and adaptations. However, translation and adaptation involve language interpretation and creative decisions. Therefore, a translation may not always be a literal word-for-word representation of the source material.
For Hinglish projects, the final language may intentionally use a natural combination of Hindi written in Roman script and commonly used English words, depending on the agreed project style.
Where adaptation is requested, changes may be made to wording, expressions, cultural references, dialogue, pacing, or presentation to suit the agreed target audience. The level of adaptation will depend on the service purchased.
11. Human and Technology-Assisted Work
Depending on the service and project requirements, UniBook Editions may use appropriate software, translation tools, artificial-intelligence-assisted tools, spelling or grammar tools, formatting software, or other technology during the workflow.
Where such tools are used, we may review, edit, adapt, or quality-check the output as appropriate for the agreed service. The use of technology does not guarantee that every output will be completely free from errors.
If a client requires that a particular project be completed without the use of specific tools or technologies, this requirement must be communicated and agreed in writing before work begins.
12. Accuracy and Client Review
Although we make reasonable efforts to provide quality work, no translation or adaptation can be guaranteed to be completely error-free. Clients should review completed work before:
- Publication
- Commercial distribution
- Uploading to an online platform
- Printing
- Broadcasting
- Public release
- Other commercial or public use
UniBook Editions will not be responsible for losses resulting solely from a client's failure to review or approve the final work before publication or distribution.
13. Revisions
The number of revisions included in a project will depend on the quotation or service agreement. A revision generally means correcting or modifying work according to the originally agreed requirements. A revision does not automatically include:
- Major changes to the original instructions
- New source material
- Significant rewriting
- Changes to the project scope
- New chapters or episodes
- New formatting requirements
- A completely different adaptation style
Requests outside the agreed revision scope may be treated as additional work and may incur additional charges.
14. Delivery Timeframes
Estimated delivery dates will be communicated based on the project scope, workload, source material, and agreed requirements. Delivery timelines may change due to:
- Delayed client responses
- Missing information
- Changes in project requirements
- Additional revision requests
- Technical problems
- Large or complex source material
- Circumstances outside our reasonable control
Where a specific deadline is commercially important, it should be agreed in writing before the project begins.
15. Payments
Payment terms will be communicated before or during project confirmation. Depending on the project, UniBook Editions may require:
- Full payment in advance
- Partial advance payment
- Milestone-based payments
- Payment upon completion
- Another payment structure agreed in writing
The client is responsible for making payments within the agreed timeframe. Work may not begin, continue, or be delivered until the required payment has been received.
16. Taxes and Additional Charges
Unless expressly stated otherwise, quoted prices may not include taxes, payment-processing charges, platform charges, or other applicable charges. Where applicable, taxes or other legally required charges may be added to the final amount.
Any additional services requested after project confirmation may be charged separately.
17. Late or Failed Payments
If a client fails to make a required payment within the agreed timeframe, UniBook Editions may:
- Pause the project
- Delay delivery
- Withhold delivery of completed work
- Require payment before continuing
- Cancel the project where appropriate
Any additional costs resulting from significant payment delays may be communicated to the client before work resumes.
18. Cancellation by the Client
A client may request cancellation of a project by contacting UniBook Editions. Whether a refund is available will depend on:
- The stage of the project
- Work already completed
- Payments already made
- Third-party costs, if any
- The applicable Refund/Cancellation Policy
- Any separate agreement between the parties
Once substantial work has been completed, the amount refundable may be reduced accordingly.
19. Cancellation or Suspension by UniBook Editions
UniBook Editions may refuse, suspend, or cancel a project if:
- The client violates these Terms
- The client provides unlawful content
- The client does not have the necessary rights to the submitted content
- Required payments are not made
- The project involves prohibited or unsafe activities
- The client engages in abusive, threatening, fraudulent, or inappropriate behaviour
- Continuing the project may create legal, security, or reputational risks
- Circumstances outside our reasonable control prevent completion
Where appropriate, we will inform the client of the reason for suspension or cancellation.
20. Prohibited Content and Activities
UniBook Editions reserves the right to refuse projects involving content or activities that are unlawful or reasonably present serious legal, safety, or ethical concerns. This may include content that facilitates:
- Illegal activities
- Fraud or deception
- Terrorist activity
- Serious violence or instructions for wrongdoing
- Exploitation or abuse
- Non-consensual sexual content
- Other activities prohibited by applicable law
We may review project requests before accepting them and may refuse work at our discretion where appropriate.
21. Confidentiality
We understand that clients may provide unpublished books, manuscripts, scripts, business documents, and other confidential material.
We will take reasonable steps to keep client-provided confidential material private and use it only for legitimate purposes related to the requested service, subject to applicable law.
However, confidentiality obligations may be subject to exceptions where disclosure is required by law, court order, government authority, or necessary to protect legal rights or safety.
Where a separate Non-Disclosure Agreement or confidentiality agreement is signed, its terms will apply to the extent provided by that agreement.

This clause does not apply to the extent that a claim is caused by UniBook Editions' own unlawful conduct or negligence.

If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, it may be handled through the appropriate legal or dispute-resolution process available under applicable Indian law.
